Kress, Griggs Lead Huskies to Split vs. East Stroudsburg

BLOOMSBURG- Syril Kress (Littlestown/ Littlestown) went 3-4 with a home run and four RBI and Michael Griggs (Jersey Shore/ Jersey Shore) pitched six scoreless innings to lead the Huskies to a 11-1 game two victory over East Stroudsburg University on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies dropped game one 9-2.
In game two, Bloomsburg put up four runs in both the first and second innings to take an 8-0 lead and put the game out of reach early. With the score already 1-0 and a runner on base, Kress homered to make it 3-0. Vinnie James (Bristol/ Bristol) and Jeremy Eck (Williamsport/ Montoursville) then followed with back-to-back doubles to make it 4-0 after the first inning.
In the second inning, Kress added another RBI on a double, James had an RBI single, and Eck hit his second RBI double of the game. The Huskies batted around in both innings. That would be more then enough for Griggs who won his third consecutive start and improved to 4-1 on the year.
In game one, Bloomsburg pitcher Dustin Johnson (Sunbury/ Shikellemy) started off strong, facing the minimum amount of batters through three innings pitched. Bloomsburg then took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third Syril Kress singled home Matt Robinson (York/ Red Lion) for the first run of the game. East Stroudsburg was able to get their offense going the second time through the order, however, scoring two runs in the fourth and three runs in the third. Bloomsburg added a run in the bottom of the fourth on Josh Howe's (Williamsport/ Williamsport) sacrifice fly but trailed 5-2 after five innings. The Warriors then added four more runs in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Bloomsburg finishes its regular season 16-31, 8-12 in the PSAC East. The Huskies wraps up its regular season by winning six of their last seven games.
